Vietnam Post applies new technology to postal operation in North Central region

In order to improve the capacity of postal operation on the whole postal networkto reach the growth rate of over 30%, Vietnam Post has mobilized resources to invest in new mail sorting centers, following the mechanization and automation orientation in its business fields, especially e-commerce and logistics.

On May 16th 2020, in Nghe An, Vietnam Post officially put into operation the North Central Logistics Center. This center becomes a key hub to ensure the smooth mail sorting, logistics and transportation in North Central region and an important transit hub to connect with sorting centers in Northern, Central and Southern regions. Additionally, this center is also responsible for sorting of inter-provincial and inner-provincial EMS, mail, parcels and logistics services and international postal services.

The North Central Logistics Center is 21,600m2 wide and its major area is used to optimize sorting and transaction activities and traffic roads.
Vietnam Post will install an automatic sorting system with a capacity of 12,000 items per hour with high accuracy, multiple sorting modes. In particular, this system can sort details by each post office of Nghe An Post and other provinces and regional sorting centers. In addition, Vietnam Post also equips this center with tools for the most optimal operation (pallets, forklifts ...), and equipment to monitor operation management such as surveillance camera system, speaker system, security and safety system to support mail sorting and stock-clearing processes.
Together with the investment in information technology systems and the standardization in operation processes, the North Central Logistics Center reach growth rate of ver 30%/year in volume and of 50% in labor cost reduction. In addition, using roller pallets in delivery and transportation mode, delivery time can be reduced to improve the efficiency of the postal trucks and reduce the damage rate.

According to Mr. Dinh Nhu Hanh, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Post, the North Central Logistics Center in official operation would contribute to improve sorting volume and quality of postal services, e-commerce and logistics and to offer the best solution to customers. This was also an important platform of Vietnam Post to invest, apply technology and science in postal operation and in its plans of automation and digital transformation.

A new sorting system was installed at  the North Central Logistics Center

To standardize postal production processes, switching from manual to automatic  sorting to meet increasing growth speed in postal and delivery service sector, especially logistics and e-commerce, Vietnam Post is operating 08 modern logistics hubs across the country. Accordingly, the quality of postal services is imrproved, delivery time is shortened to meet increasing demands of customers.
