In 2020, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Poet To Huu, the Ministry of Information and Communication issues the stamp set “Birth Centenary of To Huu (1920-2002)”. The special stamp launching ceremony is held on October 2, 2020 in Thua Thien Hue province, Viet Nam.

The stamp set depicts the portrait of Poet To Huu in the watercolor and the image of a great poet of the country. The stamp background shows the typical natural landscape of his hometown - Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue with boats surfing on the river at dawn. His famous collections of poems such as: "Since then", "Go to Battle", "Blood and Flowers", "Viet Bac", "Windy" are also included in the stamp background to salute Poet To Huu's revolutionary poetry.
The stamp set includes 01 stamp, with marginalized design, size 43 x 32 mm, designed by To Minh Trang - Vietnam Post. The stamp set is available on the public postal network from October 2, 2020 to June 30, 2022.
Poet To Huu, with a birth name of Nguyen Kim Thanh and an alias of Lanh, was born on October 4, 1920 in a family with a revolutionary tradition in Quang Tho commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province. He was a great poet to inspire and lead Vietnamese revolutionary literature. In To Huu, there is harmony between the revolutionary life and the poetic life. To Huu poems are new, modern, conveying great feelings of Vietnamese people in the development history of Viet Nam’s Party and Nation.
He is also an active politician, an elite leader of Viet Nam’s Communist Party in the front of ideology and culture with great contribution to the revolutionary war for national construction and development. He also took important positions in Viet Nam’s political system. He was awarded by Viet Nam’s Party and Government with the Gold Star Medal, 60-year Communist Party Membership Badge, Ho Chi Minh Award for Literature and Arts.

To Huu joined the revolution very early. When he was a student he was active in revolutionary movements in Thua Thien Hue. In 1938 at the age of 18, he was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam. With the success of August Revolution, the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam was born. The moment Uncle Ho read the declaration of independence at the Ba Dinh historic square, the whole world seemed to watching this. Since then, on the world map, there was no longer a colony of An Nam colonial country, but an independent and free country, the Vietnamese people own their life. To Huu recorded that great event very truthfully in his poems.
The successful resistance war against the French colonialists, in October 1954, the Central Government and Uncle Ho left Viet Bac war zone to take over the Capital. In the farewell moment, To Huu conveyed his emotion in his famous poem "Viet Bac".
“Victory belongs to us” is a poem of To Huu to end the long journey of resistance war against the American Empire, since then Viet Nam becomes fully independent, unified for sustainable development.
To Huu - a lyrical and romantic poet
The poem "Viet Bac" is an extremely poetic image of the Northwestern mountains and forests, which is a way of expressing our gratitude, faithfulness, and affection between the departing and the dwelling.
In To Huu, there is still a great deal of love for his family and for the ancient capital of Hue where he was born. He misses Hue, the chorus of Nam Binh, his mother in homeland and conveys in his emotional poem "Dear Mum (Bam oi)".
To Huu is such a man, a poet of the people, so most of his works served the revolution, the country and the people and he ever affirmed this message in his poem "The 1961 Spring Song".
